Tim’s Boatman Purple #16

Tim’s Boatman in purple is a water boatman imitation with an unconventional color twist. Boatmen are strong swimmers that trout chase aggressively, and the purple body adds a trigger in the drift.

Fish it with short strips in lakes and slow pools to imitate the swimming insect. Size #16 matches the naturals of Western stillwaters. Mayfly nymphs are on the trout menu nearly every day of the season, so a pattern like this earns a permanent place in your nymph box.
