Water Boatman #14

The Water Boatman imitates the swimming aquatic insect that trout chase aggressively in lakes and slow water. Boatmen are strong swimmers, and trout often take them with hard, confident strikes.

Fish it with short, quick strips in lakes and ponds to mimic the swimming insect. Size #14 matches the naturals of Western stillwaters. Midges hatch in every month of the year, so this is a pattern worth keeping on your rig from winter straight through fall.
