Juicy Hopper Olive #12

The Juicy Hopper in olive is a grasshopper dry fly pattern. The olive tones match natural hoppers while the buggy profile suggests a range of large terrestrials.

Fish it on a dead drift along grassy banks in late summer.

Late summer is prime time for terrestrials, especially on windy afternoons when the breeze knocks insects off the bankside vegetation.

Don’t overlook the middle of the river on breezy days windblown terrestrials drift far from shore, and trout cruise the lanes looking for them.
